There are over 35 major conflicts going on in the world today causing more than 1.6 million deaths each year, which means three deaths a minute! About 1.5 billion people, more than a fifth of the world’s population, live in countries hit by repeated cycles of violence.
God calls us to be peacemakers in a world of conflict. Peacemakers are people who bring peace to others, because they have it themselves. A person who lives with unresolved conflict on their own heart cannot bring peace to others.
We need to contribute, to the best of our ability, to the peace of our families, in the church, at work, in the community, in a restaurant. Wherever we are, whatever we do, God has called us to peace. In the Bible, the word “shalom” (or peace) is more than the absence of conflict. It is the active enjoyment of all that is good.
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9)
Transbiblica would like to see that communities across the world are able to live at PEACE with each other by building a network of 100 peacemakers (religious, ethnic, racial, nationalist, family, Interpersonal etc) who are actively involved in peace building.
